Volunteer Lake Assessment Program (VLAP)

The PLPA has had an ongoing partnership with the NH Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) for over 20 years. Volunteers for the program are trained by DES to take monthly water samples from inlets and various lake depths. Phosphorous, oxygen, ecoli etc. are measured and the clarity of the lake is determined. DES issues reports periodically. The reports track year to year water quality changes, identify areas of concern, and suggest possible proactive steps to counter any lake protection problems.
